  • Spotlight: Borders & Frontiers at ASOS

    borders

London based label Borders & Frontiers were pretty quick off the mark. Just as fashion bloggers became a world wide fascination, Borders commissioned the now famous ‘bloggers t-shirts’; where our favourite online writers designed limited edition t-shirts to signature their widely read websites.

So we have Queen Michelle’s cool Teddy Boy uncle, Fake Karl’s tongue in cheek ‘Demode’ number, and Style Bubble’s pretty diamond neck chains (two jewellery print fabrics in one day, must be a sign to purchase.) All of the t-shirts come in high quality organic cotton, and are now on sale at half price too! We’ve already made one spend today- would collecting the lot really be a step too far…?

What’s more, Borders & Frontiers have since extended the line to include shopper totes, all printed with great illustrations of Tavi et al made for popping down to Tesco with. We’d also recommend checking out the labels own blog, where interesting art and photography snapshots sit alongside a new tune or two. We’ve already had a bop along to Chase and Status and Bjork courtesy of the site, and it’s not even lunchtime yet. All hail the blogger revolution at Borders.

  • Save or Splurge: Dior or Topshop?

    vintage coats

When contemplating a purchase comparison Dior and Topshop are rarely grouped together, which is mainly due to the luxury price tag associated with designer clothes, but nevertheless we can still dream. Or better yet, find a cheaper high street alternative. Thank you ye olé faithful Topshop.

Now if you can afford to spend £4330 on a new coat then we truly envy your ability to own this exquisite Christian Dior coat. The elongated length and cinched waist belt make this one almighty flattering piece of outerwear for autumn, not to mention versatile considering the current colour palette. The fur trimmed neckline means this coat oozes sophistication and elegance.

If like most of us you’re watching the pennies at the minute, then head on down to your local Topshop where you’ll find a whole host of furry vintage stealers. But this one in particular caught our attention, probably due to the leopard print collar that made us instantly weak at the knees. And at only £85 this guilt free fashion must-have would undoubtedly hang nicely in our new found autumn wardrobe.

  • Style snack: Karen Millen dress

    Karen Millen dress

Well isn’t this a nice little Friday pick-me-up?  Our only regret is that we hadn’t spotted this Karen Millen dress sooner, but good things come to those who wait.  Millen’s black and white Tropical Sun dress is now reduced from £135 to £65, officially making it a can’t-miss bargain!  The monochromatic jungle print with black trim is divine and is a sophisticated alternative to all of your other cotton frocks.  This is stretch-cotton, mind you.  Spin it around and you have a sexy exposed zipper and criss-cross straps.

Now for application, we’d suggest chunky wedges to make the ensemble a little less girly and a nice bold colour clutch–in fuchsia, cobalt or Kelly green, depending on your mood.  Keep the look relevant in autumn with a cropped leather jacket or a lazy knit shawl for warmth.  Shop now, there’s only a few sizes left!

  • Don’t miss Temperley on Outnet

    Alice-on-Outnet

Earlier this week we went a bit overboard at Outnet’s pop-up clearance sale.  This was to be expected.  Discounted designer wear reduced further for our shopping pleasure?  That’s a no-brainer.  However, we just barely missed the new stock of Temperley that hit the site mid-sale.  At this point Outnet is really piling on the temptation heavy, but it’s Friday, and rainy at that, so some extra-curricular browsing can’t hurt, right?

Temperley London was launched during London Fashion Week in 2000 and quickly received praise for its vibrant prints, opulent embellished numbers and strong tailored separates.  Nine year later, Alice by Temperley was born, picking up on the designer’s playful side, and introducing an eclectic line mixed with vintage touches that still stays true to the heritage of this British label.  On offer at Outnet is a range of the two, from moody blue tiger print shorts and frocks to bold colour-block tunics and pixie eyelet dresses in fluro pink and an LBD or two, Temperley has secured itself as the go-to collection for fun, fashion-forward party wear.  Shop on over to Outnet today just in time for this holiday weekend.

  • Outnet Clearance Sale on now

    outnetclearance

We’re not going to waste anyone’s time with the details of how, when and where we came across this brilliant Monday morning news, let’s just get straight to the point. The Outnet, Net-A-Porter’s oh-so-much-more-affordable sister site, has just launched it’s summer clearance sale for one week only. You know as well as we do whilst clicking away in the office as we type (two tabs, ladies: multi-task), this designer stock will hardly see out the day let alone the next seven, but we appreciate the wishful thinking. The list of lust-worthy merchandise is endless with Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs, Fendi and Miu Miu drowning out all else in sight. What’s better than that? Well, most of the deals we’re rearranging our finances for are 85 percent off. So there’s your cue, if you’re still reading, click here to sign in and score the top deals on Outnet before they’re gone!

  • Daily find- Matthew Williamson

    williamson

Another day, another Outnet spot. When we first caught a glimpse of Matthew Williamson’s mosaic print dress, we immediately felt the urge to rush out of the office to go dancing. As weird as that may sound, there’s something to this slinky terracotta infused number making us long for balmy summer nights on holiday, dancing and sipping cocktails on a beach somewhere.

But, reality check: even without a trip away in the sun, the dress IS crying out for a night on the tiles. And at the newly bargainous price of £215.25, we’re definitely tempted to take it out for a spin.

Even though Williamson is famed for prints and glamorous evening wear, this look is slightly set apart from his usual sequins and flounces- though it’s just as fun. Silky, and intricately printed, it’s one of the more exciting dresses we’ve come across in some time. We very much doubt it will stick around online for long.

  • Outnet’s Frenchie finds

    modern-beatnik

If you’re reading this, it could be too late.  That’s because Isabel Marant is on every wish list this season (and for the past several, in fact), and her classically chic French designs never stick around anywhere for long.  It’s easy to see why, Marant, like fellow French designer, Vanessa Bruno, define and resdesign effortless dressing for a new generation.  Gone are the shapeless sacks and haphazard silhouettes of the past, the ‘Modern Beatnik’–as the Outnet has aptly labeled the look–is all about understated bohemian chic.  The fabric is sumptuous to the touch and the quality of shape and proportion, impeccable.

This is layering the Parisian way.  No mixing clashing prints, just smart cuts worn over soft styles, playing with texture and colour, but never distracting.  The wearer is the focus of this collaboration, and the clothes just enhance the look.  Marant and Bruno’s style aesthetic is the epitome of “Oh, this old thing?”  Impressive without being obvious, and stylish without being overtly trendy; these are the clothes that will stick around in your wardrobe for years to come.

Head on over to the Outnet to shop Vanessa Bruno Athe and Etoile by Isabel Marant–we hear there’s nothing above £200!

  • Save or Splurge: floaty trousers

    floatytrouser

What with festival season not altogether behind us yet (V this weekend folks!) a bohemian piece here or there still won’t hurt. Especially when, bored of the usual bouts of fringing and denim- until next summer obviously, minds wander to an altogether new hippie relic: the floaty trouser.

Silk and chiffon are perfect fabrics for breezy clothes which are never fully in or out of style. At the higher end of our Save vs. Splurge feature today are a grey pattern pair spun by the intricate hands at Missoni. These beauties are for the serious flare fans, who’s vintage bell bottoms need a bit of a rest by now.

The there’s Roberto Cavalli, with a pair of off-white peasant look trousers. For some reason we can’t help but smile when we see them: delicate fashions are always welcome in a world so often dominated by tough dress codes.

And finally, Topshop has created a budget pair of floaty trousers in three colours- all pushing the concept of fare as far as it can go. We’ve tried them on and believe us, the ‘is it a skirt or bottoms’ stares don’t end all day. Nothing wrong with keeping fans on the street curious.
