Swimwear to crave
Written by Lauren Hesse
In light of all of the sunny days we’ve had recently, we are dying to peel off our bulky coats and knit scarves for good and head to the beach as soon as possible. And this summer’s bathing suit selection has us already packing the towel and lotion.

One-shoulder is one of the hottest trends in swimwear this season. Made popular by cocktail frocks and flirty tops, this look transfers easily to bikinis and one pieces. If you are looking for a two piece suit, try a roped, braided or twisted shoulder strap to add texture. Shopping for a one-piece? Keep lines and colour simple and sleek for a streamlined look.
Diane Von Furstenburg went vintage in her Resort 2010 show, which featured bold prints, high waisted bottoms and one piece suits with sweetheart necklines. The bandeau top is another great vintage inspired classic that leaves you free of pesky tan lines. Our favourite bandeau bikini is Zimmerman’s revealing strappy design.
As predicted, cut-outs and the monokini have returned this season. This time the lines are more dramatic and embellishments are key. Think sequins, beading and shimmer. We love Versace’s baroque-influenced suit that is coloured in bright purple, pink and green with a simple cross back.
Right now the focus for swimwear is on cut and colour. This season be on the lookout for exotic prints or sleek minimalism in black and white. Whether it’s retro suits, one shoulder or racy cut-outs you have a choice between the brightest of bright or figure-flattering black and white.

With the sun shining, we can only hope to dive into these glamorous suits as soon as possible.
