Getting lippy

We all go through phases where we grow tired of our wardrobe and cannot find anything exciting to wear. Instead of trashing your once favourite pieces, add a new twist to outfits with the hot runway beauty trend– outlandish lips.

Just in time for a Valentine’s Day smooch, there seem to be several directions that you can run your mouth, and we love them all.

Miu Miu ensured they kept their kissers neutral enough to make the lips look completely concealed.  This look can shift the focus of an outfit and works well with a bold eye and even-set foundation.

If you want to go a bit more bold, trying puckering up with a bright orange gloss. Prada took on this look with a clean, even face and a super shine over orange colour.

Red lips have been a staple for several seasons but the new trend is to take red to the max. Prada made sure their lippy lines were crisp and defined with a deep red stain. Another look you can try is a bright red with a high glimmer glossy over the top.

Who says that black is only Gothic? Like dark nails crossing over into high style, dark lips are taking centre stage. This look can be scary if not done right, so if you are brave enough to try it, make sure your lips are moisturised and your outfit and sleek and classic.

Not that daring? To go edgy and play with colour, Bottega Veneta went a shade of purple. This look is bold and daring but has become a couture staple. You can try it for yourself with neutral tones and fabrics- just stay away from bold prints when wearing this tint.

If you are hopeless romantic you may admire the Chanel lips that matched the feminine clothing designs. To compliment the timeless frocks and frills, lips were the ultimate in lovely. Try this trend with a rich wine or burgundy coloured lipstick applied to moisturised skin. Add a slight deep colour to the cheeks and keep the eyes neutral.
