It’s no secret that we’ve long held a soft spot for Lowie, the handmade knitwear range with heart….or in autumn’s case, rosettes. Overflowing with crafty crocheted affects, spring runways paved the way for hand-sewn style down to the very last stitch. Mark Fast did for the yarn-and-hook look what Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton did for the clog: pulled it out of the closet, dusted it off and threw it into the fashion mainstream again (though we’re still waiting to see if the clogs kick in). Even at Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld presented his handiwork decorated with flower buds and ready for a roll in the hay. We say break out the loom!

Whilst the recent attention to knit detail and appliqué is appreciated, it’s nothing new at Lowie. Bronwyn Lowenthal has been embroidering and stitching together seam after seam since 2002 when she started her line. Since then Lowie has secured a spot as the go-to ethically minded knitwear line for those who like their comfort clothes with a bit of luxury.

The spring line is simply sweet. Drawing from the world around her, Lowie pulls blue from the brightest sky and fresh green stalks of grass to colour her collection. Bark-stained leather belts are produced by a family in Turkey, whilst hats and wraps accesorise accordingly. We absolutely adore the floaty ivory dress and matching knit beret—perfect for a stroll along the waterfront. Lowie appeals to the British market, because it is knitwear for all seasons. Chunky sweaters for autumn/winter and thin wool cardigans for spring. The goods arrive March 4, so mark your calendars.
