Victoria’s Secret fashion show
Written by Dana Karlson

We realise it’s not exactly perfect timing for this post, what with Kate’s discouraging/ disheartening comments of late (we prefer to not reprint them), but it is that time of year again: Victoria’s Secret threw down quite a spectacular show last night in New York. The guest list was a who’s-who of the fashion world with Carine Roitfeld and Zac Posen planted firmly in the front row.
It’s not overly difficult to explain the appeal of a lingerie show to a group of guys (c’mon we need only say the word “lingerie” and eyes light up), but this is a night that all enjoy. Cheerful, overly accessorised girls (the clothes to accessories ratio is about 1:4 here) bound down the runway all in good fun–not a sombre glare in sight. These models smile. Some of the most famous catwalkers around–Heidi, Chanel, Miranda–all cue for a slot in the annual show. (Models above l-r: Behati Prinsloo, Marisa Miller, Heidi Klum, and Doutzen Kroes). Astonishingly, Miss Klum rocked the runway a mere month after giving birth! (we have collectively analysed these photos and are blown away). Noticably absent was Adriana Lima, a VS favourite from Brazil, who gave birth to her first daughter Valentina this Sunday.
This season’s inspiration was a cross of romantic, girly pinks, Star Troopers and Enchanted Forest (who knew you could do so much with underwear?!) all tied together in a playful romp. The Black Eyed Peas performed, with Fergie donning an emerald green corset.
Victoria’s Secret, which will be coming to our side of the pond in 2010 (we’ll keep you posted) is beautiful lingerie at pretty prices, and everyone shops it. Besides the best in underwear, VS is widely shopped for it’s bathing suits (really, if you can’t find a swimsuit here, we’re speechless), and clothing line. This is one secret we couldn’t keep!
