    Roksanda-Ilincic

We’ve spent this Friday digging through the archives, way way back to ‘ole London Fashion Week, going through shows we mentally bookmarked to discuss at a later date, when we rediscovered Roksanda Ilincic.  We first met the lovely designer at Browns Fashion’s Night Out, where we were impressed by her demure presence, and obviously her designs.  Since then Ilincic has created a line for Whistles (remember British Vogue’s cover story/ spread on Georgia Jagger? The bright silky blue dress Jagger wore in the spread was from this Whistles’ collection), and showcased an awe-inspiring collection at London Fashion Week.

The Serbian-born designer’s Spring 2010 collection transitioned from fluid silky separates in the most lovely pastel hues (a little Saint Laurent flair) to forties power looks and shiny bold metallic gowns–with some tribal feather details in between.  Despite the sounds of it, this all worked together spectacularly.  The progression from the draped silhouettes that opened the show ( a personal favourite) into more structured sophisticated shapes, which slowly and then thoroughly worked in elements of bronze and shine, felt quite natural.
